How it works

  1. Create an account and choose a search

An account is required before you buy. Pick trademark, patent, design or beer.

  2. Provide your input

Upload a description (patent), drawings (design) enter your mark and goods (trademark), or enter your beer details, states and label photos (beer). You see the price, turnaround and what is not covered before you pay.

  3. Pay for the search

One flat price per search, by card, or apply a voucher.

  4. Automated search

Primoris searches the records, narrows to the closest candidates, and compares them to your submission.

  5. Beer Search: name, label and states

The beer name is checked against trademark records, the federal beer label registry and the Oregon trademark register, the label photos are read against the federal malt beverage labeling items, and the states you pick get a requirements checklist of what each state agency publishes. Items that cannot be read from your photos are marked as such.

  6. Verification

Cited patents and marks are checked against the source records. Anything that cannot be verified is not presented as a finding.

  7. Your report

Usually within one hour, sometimes up to 24. You get an email, and the report is in your account. Your uploaded files are deleted once the report is complete.

After the report

Use the findings to decide whether to refine your idea or name, file, or talk to an attorney. Reports are a starting point. See Sources for exactly what is searched, and the sample report page for what a report looks like.

Primoris reports are automated screening reports. They are not legal advice and not an attorney opinion, and no attorney-client relationship is created. A gap in the results does not prove that nothing exists. Talk to a registered patent or trademark attorney before filing or relying on a report.
