Turnaround: to be announced. Pay per search, no subscription.

Patent Search (Advanced) is not available yet. The scope below is the plan and may change; the final scope is confirmed at launch, and every report will state exactly what it covered.

Who it is for

  • Inventors and startups preparing a patent application who want a deeper screen first
  • Companies deciding whether to invest in a patent filing
  • Patent attorneys and agents who want a structured starting point for their own search
  • Technology-transfer offices triaging invention disclosures

What it does

Everything in Patent Search (Basic), searched deeper. Instead of a comparison for only the top few references, every claim of your invention is charted against the closest references, with short verbatim evidence quotes that are checked against the stored text. It is planned to look at more references, trace citations one hop out from the best matches, and read more web pages. It still answers patentability only, not infringement or freedom to operate.

Key capabilities

  • Claim chart for every claim (independent and dependent): element, closest references, disclosed / partly / not found, verbatim evidence
  • About 30 references (Basic: about 15), with a summary heat-map of references against independent claims
  • Citation tracing: art cited by examiners, one hop out from the best matches
  • A verification log; evidence that fails the check is downgraded to "not shown"
  • International coverage through the European Patent Office, where available

How it works

  1. Create an account and, once the search launches, upload your invention description (PDF, DOCX or TXT).
  2. Pay for the search by card, or apply a voucher.
  3. Primoris searches the claims of US patents inside the relevant CPC classes, ranks about 30 references, and traces citations from the best matches.
  4. It reads more web pages and, where available, foreign documents through the EPO.
  5. A claim chart is built for every claim, and each quoted passage is checked against the stored text.
  6. Primoris verifies the citations against the source records and drops anything it cannot verify.
  7. Your report is ready usually within one hour, sometimes up to 24 hours. You get an email, and the report (web view and PDF) is in your account.

What we search

Each report also states, in its Search Scope and Limitations section, the date each source is current through. See Sources for all products.

What you get

A report in three parts, as a web page in your account and a PDF you can download, with an email when it is ready. The layout shown is the planned one.

Part A: Summary

One page, plain English

  • Risk Factor Rating (High, Medium or Low)
  • Verdict, top matches and points to discuss with an attorney
  • The same one-page layout as every Primoris report

Part B: Technical detail

For attorneys and careful readers

  • Your invention as we understood it
  • A claim chart for every claim with verbatim evidence
  • A heat-map of references against independent claims
  • Citation-traced references labelled with how they were found
  • Assessment and automated design-around ideas to discuss with an attorney

Part C: Appendix

Method, full tables, limits

  • Full reference tables
  • Method and the verification log
  • Search Scope and Limitations, with the data-currency date
  • Disclaimer
First page of a sample Patent Search (Advanced) report for a fictional canopy harness: a High risk rating badge, a verdict naming two earlier patents, and a top matches table. Fictional data showing the planned layout.

First page of a sample report

The data in samples is fictional. Real reports follow the same layout.

What you provide

Invention description
The same as Patent Search (Basic): a PDF, DOCX or TXT file, or pasted text. Final limits are confirmed at launch.

Uploaded files are deleted once the report is complete.

What it does not cover

  • Infringement, freedom-to-operate or clearance
  • Unpublished applications (typically the first 18 months)
  • Full descriptions of most references; evidence is title, abstract and claims
  • Patent offices not reachable through the EPO
  • Legal advice, or any guarantee that a patent will be granted

Risk rating explained

Every report opens with a Risk Factor Rating. The words, not the colour, carry the meaning. The rating is a screening aid, not a legal finding.

HIGH RISK
Very close prior art was found, and the chart shows most claim elements in the text reviewed. An examiner could cite the references together.
MEDIUM RISK
Related prior art was found, but the chart shows meaningful differences for key claim elements.
LOW RISK
No close prior art was found in the sources searched. Absence of results is not proof of novelty.

Pricing and payment

Frequently asked

When will it launch?
There is no date yet. Use "Notify me" to ask us to tell you when it launches.
Can I use Patent Search (Basic) in the meantime?
Yes. Basic is available now and covers US patents, published applications, literature and foreign/PCT documents at abstract level.
Will I be able to upgrade a Basic search?
No. Each search is bought separately; there are no upgrades or credits.
How is it different from Basic?
Basic compares the top 3 to 5 references on claim 1. Advanced is planned to chart every claim against about 30 references, trace citations and check each quoted passage.

Primoris reports are automated screening reports. They are not legal advice and not an attorney opinion, and no attorney-client relationship is created. A gap in the results does not prove that nothing exists. Talk to a registered patent or trademark attorney before filing or relying on a report.
